Shelly Mowinkel

Milford Jr/Sr High School
Technology Teacher
Milford, NE
Shelly Mowinkel has over fifteen years of business/technology education experience. She is currently a BMIT teacher and technology coach at Milford Public Schools. Shelly enjoys teaching career education courses because these courses teach creativity, problem solving, critical thinking and career readiness skills. Shelly also believes teaching career education gives students opportunities to enhance their leadership skills and to find a passion outside the classroom walls.

Outside of teaching, Shelly is the FBLA co-advisor, Student Council advisor, assistant high school softball coach, junior high track coach and senior class sponsor. She relishes in these extra duties as they give her another outlet to display her servant leadership style. Through these extracurricular activities, Shelly inspires students to practice servant leadership to better the school and community.

Shelly has been recognized numerous times for her dedication to education including the 2015 National Business Middle Level Teacher of the Year and the 2013 Outstanding NETA Teacher in Technology. Shelly is also active in professional organizations where she has held multiple leadership positions in the Nebraska State Business Education Association including serving as President in 2014-2015. She has found a passion in giving back to her professional network by presenting over 40 times at local, state, and national conferences about classroom strategies and innovative technologies.

Shelly’s husband, Brandon, is the principal at Milford Jr/Sr High School. They have three children: Calyn, Addi, and Zephyr. The family keeps busy by attending various activities, participating in 4H, practicing photography, and traveling. Someday, Shelly hopes to be brave enough to write and publish a book.
